The Black Lillies: On the Road |
Born in the rumbling cab of a stone truck and aged in the oak of Tennessees smoky night haunts, The Black Lillies have come to the forefront of the Americana scene in little more than a year. Founded by multi instrumentalist and vocalist Cruz Contreras (co-founder of Robinella and the CCstringband), The Black Lillies have created their own unique brand of country, roots, rock and blues via Appalachia. The group, formed in 2008, also includes electric guitar and pedal steel whiz Tom Pryor and drummer Jamie Cook, both formerly of the everybodyfields. Bassist Robert Richards and vocalist Trisha Gene Brady round out the lineup. |
The Black Lillies have landed in beautiful Pagosa Springs, Co. after driving a straight 27 hours to get here from Knoxville, Tn.
We have an evening to rest up before doing 4 shows in 4 days then heading on to Leadville!
The BIG show is here in Pagosa for the Four Corners Music Festival which we are excited and proud to be a part of… We hope to make it a standing tradition to come for the Spring & Fall festivals here!!
*Next up - hot springs time ya’ll :)

Home sweet Home!
I flew home from Portland and let the fellas have more room in the Tahoe to sleep and drive home… They are almost back and I am here loving my mountains but not so much this heat wave!
Wish I could have brought some of that cool weather home with me but oh well… it’s worth it just to be here!!!
I will keep posting tid bits from The Black Lillies and our shows.
We have another week out in Colorado in a few weeks so I will again be posting on our adventures so stay tuned and until then peace, love, and music to you all!
PICKATHON!!!
Let’s just say I want to be there every year from now on!!!
We had a great camp site… the music was amazing… the stage set ups were fantastic!! This was the most well run festival I have ever been to and it was completely GREEN! All festivals can learn something from watching the way this one is run!!
My favorite acts of the weekend (other than those I already know and love) were Dr. Dog, Megafaun, Sallie Ford, Breathe Owl Breathe, & Langhorne Slim!
I highly recommend this festival to anyone who loves good Indie Roots music and wonderful people : )
We headed down to Seattle and did a radio live spot for KEXP 90.3 to promote our show at The Tractor Tavern as well as Pickathon… such a great station (you can listen online) and some great folks running it!
The show at The Tractor was great! We had Sam Quinn & Chatham Co. Line opening for us and the crowd was all about the music and dancing!!
Tony & daisy hosted us for the night and we got to hang out with their wonderful children Ruby & Cash!! THANKS so much to your whole family for hosting us guys : )
A big THANKS to Jenn and The Roost for hosting us Black Lillies in Bellingham… what a wonderful town! We hope to be back up there soon!!
Bellingham, Washington is beautiful! It is a mere 30 miles from Canada and right on the coast… we went swimming in the lake and saw giant purple starfish on a beach where the sand was made up of crunched shells and barnacles!
